A group of Moravians founded Nazareth in 1740 on the tract originally owned by the evangelical preacher, George Whitefield. In 1743, construction restarted on the Whitefield House. By 1744, 32 couples moved into the nearly completed Whitefield House. After that, the population started to grow. Enough visitors came to Nazareth and the Rose Inn was constructed in 1752. Nazareth is home to Martin Guitar and the Andretti racing family.
